CHAMPAIGN, Ill (WCIA)– Religious leaders in champaign are taking it into their own hands to raise awareness about violence in the community.
They did it at Streetfest Against Violence.
It’s hosted by New Covenant Fellowship Church.
Last years event was held in the wake of the parkland mass shooting.
But the theme for this year is local issues of violence and gives a voice to the organizations that work to end it.
There was music and speakers and with a wide variety of types of music, officials say it could be a metaphor for many different people coming together to stand up against all forms of violence.
