STEM engineering includes gingerbread houses!

Local News

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — Some teachers had a little holiday fun with lesson plans Wednesday.

Kids at Garden Hills Elementary School got a hands-on engineering lesson. They built gingerbread houses out of milk cartons.

Garden Hills is one of three magnet schools focusing on STEM learning. Teachers and staff say this kind of activity is what learning is all about.

Students get to do projects like this thanks to an almost $10 million grant among the three magnet schools.
