SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WCIA) — Governor Pritzker issued a state disaster proclamation for 34 counties along the Illinois and Mississippi Rivers. The declaration will insure state support for the communities battling flood waters. Several of those are in the Quad Cities.
The Mississippi River there has officially grabbed the title for highest water level. It could still go higher. Thursday afternoon the river, which has a flood stage of 15, measured 22.64 feet. The old record was 22.63 in 1993.
