URBANA, Ill (WCIA)– St. Patrick’s day festivities parade kicked off today in Urbana.

The third annual ‘World’s Shortest St. Patrick’s Day Parade’ spans just 400 feet.

From Race Street to Broadway on Main Street.

A rival parade in Texas also claims the shortest St. Patrick’s day parade at just 98 feet, but today’s event was still a fun way for families to celebrate all decked out in green.

Kids got to decorate boxes and walk in the parade too.

“So far it’s been a really good reception people like the fact that we give them everything you want and the parade in about 10 minutes or less so you get the fun you get the fire trucks you get the police officers we got superheroes marching we’ve got bagpipers we’ve got a dance troupe all in one block all in about 10 minutes,” Doug Jean.

Heather Roberts and Tim Sinclair from CI Living were the grand marshals.

Officials say they don’t think they’ll be growing the parade anytime soon.
