UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS (WCIA) — UI sorority sisters are taking action after one of their own was hit by a car last month.

Women in Alpha Delta Gamma are starting a petition. The speed limit on Lincoln Avenue is 30 miles per hour, but they say cars are speeding and not stopping at crosswalks.

They say they’ve had trouble crossing the street to get to class. The women say they sometimes wait four or five minutes before they can cross.

They hope they can get flashing lights or a stop sign for pedestrians.
