Shootings ahead of Halloween raise safety questions

Local News

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — After two shootings, one of them deadly, the night before Halloween, some parents are concerned about trick-or-treating safety.

Police say they’ve increased patrols where shootings have happened, but it’s not unique to Halloween. They say children aren’t at any increased risk.

The sheriff’s office says there have been 97 shootings incidents in Champaign County this year. As of Halloween 2017, there were 67.
