CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — A shooting outside an area home sent one man to the hospital. It happened just after 5 pm, Thursday, in the 300 block of East Church Street.
A 45-year old man was taken to the hospital to be treated for his injuries. Police say he will be okay.
Shortly after police got the call, they found the man outside of the home. Lots of officers searched the alley and the parking lot right behind.
The entire area was blocked off with crime scene tape while they were looking for evidence. They say the shooting happened outside the home.
There were several neighbors standing by watching as police searched the area. One says, he’s not surprised this happened.
“There’s all these police outside there and that’s not all that unusual in this neighborhood. I mean, the police are out here pretty often.”
He says he’s seen a lot of police in the area, especially in the last six months. By 8:30 pm, police had cleared the area and took down the crime scene tape. No names or other information is currently being released.
