CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — One person was taken to the hospital after an early morning shooting, but that’s not the only shots fired call police are investigating. Police were called to the 2500 block of W. Springfield a little after 2:15 a.m. Friday, and found a 23 year-old Champaign man laying on the ground outside an apartment building. The victim says he was involved in a fight outside an apartment complex when shots were fired. He realized he was shot and ran off. He was taken to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

A little after 9:00 p.m. Thursday, officers responded to the 2000 block of Ola Dr. for a report of shots fired. Police found several shell casings in the street. Witnesses describe the suspect as a black man wearing a black baseball cap and was in a black SUV.

At 9:11 p.m Thursday, police responded to additional gunfire in the 2400 block of W. Springfield. The suspect and vehicle descriptions are similar to those provided on Ola Dr.
