Shooter sentenced to 24-years in prison

VERMILION COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) — A man, convicted of aggravated battery with a firearm, received a sentence of 24-years Friday.

35-year old Deontae Franklin must serve 85%, or 20.4 years behind bars for shooting Bobby Hansbrough.

It happened about 7 am, Saturday, July 29, 2017, in the 1200-block of Clarence Street. When officers arrived for a call of a shooting, they found Hansbrough shot once in the abdomen. 

He was able to identify Franklin as the perpetrator. The handgun used in the incident was recovered. Franklin faced 6 – 30 years in prison for the class X felony.
