CHAMPAIGN COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) — Two people were taken to the hospital after a crash on the interstate. It happened about 11:30 am, Wednesday, on I-74 east, between Urbana and St. Joseph.
Police say one of the cars was backing up on the interstate to take a turn-around designated for authorized vehicles only. That’s when another car ran into it.
The driver of the first car is a 22-year old female from Chicago; the other driver is a 22-year old female from Georgetown. Both were taken to the hospital with what are described as serious injuries.
The driver of the first car is charged with improper backing and violation of minimum speed restriction.
