SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WCIA) — A former employee of Lincoln Land Community College has been sentenced to more than 2 years in federal prison, for defrauding the college.
48 year old John Martinez is a former telecommunication employee for the college. He took nearly $700,000 over a 7 year period. He used the money for personal expenses. Martinez admitted he repeatedly forged his supervisors’ signatures to authorize payments and caused the college to issue checks to fictitious vendors.
He was sentenced to 29 months in prison, and must pay restitution.
