WASHINGTON, D.C. (WCIA) — Fifteen years after being shot down in Iraq, one senator made a return trip last week. Democratic Sen. Tammy Duckworth visited the country along with two congressmen, Republican Sen. Johnny Isakson of Georgia and Independent Sen. Angus King of Maine.
Duckworth lost her legs when the Blackhawk she was piloting was shot down in 2004 during Operation Iraqi Freedom. The delegation traveled to several cities, including Baghdad. They met with the country’s top leaders and were given intelligence updates.
