DECATUR — A Boy Scout was awarded a rare achievement and it’s been a long time coming. Terry Smith has been a scout for 61 years.
He’s now ranked an Eagle Scout. Only four percent of all scouts earn this award because they must get it by the time they’re 18.
He reached the rank in the 60’s, but his review was postponed indefinitely. This year he petitioned to have it and his request was approved.
A ceremony was held in his honor.
