CERRO GORDO, Ill. (WCIA) — Construction on the junior and senior high schools is moving full steam ahead.
The $8 million project is intended to improve education, safety and security. Leaders broke ground on the project in April. Since then, a lot has been torn down and rebuilt.
The entryway into one of the buildings is done. New steps were built, but it appears there’s still a ways to go before it’s completely done.
Both buildings are under construction. An elevator is being added, a library is being converted into two classrooms and a gym is turning into an auditorium.
The other building will have a new dining area. A library and media services area are also being added. A new central office and gym are also being developed.
The buildings under renovation were built in 1929 and 1962. Construction is expected to be done around August 2019.
In addition to the buildings, they’re also working on an all-weather track which should be completed once football season starts.
