URBANA, Ill. (WCIA) — District leaders sent a letter to parents notifying them of a window, on the east side of the building, being shot out of Urbana Middle School sometime over the weekend.
A window from room 2402 and an exterior wall outside room 2411 were damaged.
The letter states police confirmed receiving a call about a noise consistent with shots fired about 1 am, Sunday, from a resident on Vine Street.
Authorities told Superintendent Don Owen they do not believe there was an intended target of the shooting nor was the building shot intentionally.
People in the building late at night or on weekends are being warned to be aware of their surroundings.
