School complete after seven years

Local News

MAHOMET, Ill. (WCIA) — A school, seven years in the making, is finally complete.

Middletown Prairie Elementary School opened its doors to parents and guests Sunday to celebrate. The new building will house about 750 preschoolers through 2nd graders when school starts Friday.

It features the newest technology and safety features, such as specialized glass, secure entrances and an enclosed playground. Most of the project was funded by the Champaign County schools sales tax.
