CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — Public works launched a new system to help make a dangerous bridge in the area a little safer.
A new flashing light system has been added to both sides of the Kirby Avenue bridge. It’s accommodates pedestrians, cyclists and drivers.
Many people raised concerns it’s hard to see walkers and bicyclists when they approach the bridge, so public works hopes the alert will be a temporary fix.
It’s up to IDOT to eventually replace the bridge since it spans I-57.
