Report: Racial stop numbers improving?

Local News

URBANA, Ill. (WCIA) — City leaders are getting new reports on the area’s traffic stops. For years, the city council has been doing an analysis for racial disparity.

Data from the last decade show African-Americans have been stopped at a higher rate than would be expected based on the city’s driving population.

Numbers from last year show it’s still the case, but the divide isn’t as wide as it used to be. The council will hear the full report at its Monday night meeting.
