CHAMPAIGN — A new website is helping authors with more diverse stories get noticed.

Red Clover Reading was founded by this Melanie Keil and Armand Tossou. They’re parents, and didn’t like the type of content kids could see online, so they created a kid friendly website that’s also educational. It’s filled with 40 books from published authors.

Keil said “It’s exciting. It’s a lot of work. One thing we focus on is trying to have more diverse authors and diver stories. That’s something that plays into independently published authors. The publishing industry has been exclusively white and it still is, it’s like 18% not white, so we try to feature authors who have diverse characters from diverse backgrounds”.

You can also buy books in print on their website.

If you’d like to see it, you can visit it here.
