ILLINOIS (WCIA) — It’s becoming a record year for corn planting, and that’s not a good thing.
As of this week it’s the slowest in Illinois since 1979. Only 24% of the corn has been planted in the state. 10 years ago in 2009, that number was 32%. Just across the border in Indiana, only 20% of the corn is in the ground.
Last year at this time 86% of the corn has been planted.
