Rantoul possible court program

Local News

RANTOUL. Ill. (WCIA)– The Village of Rantoul wants to start a program to keep its citizens out of county courthouses for ordinance violations.

It would speed up the process for those who get in trouble.

It could also cut down on cost from having these cases sent to county court.

The Village Board want to be sure the program would be cost-effective before moving forward.

The board will be taking the next six to nine months to research the risks and the benefits.

If they decide to move forward a hearing officer will need to be trained to hear the cases.
