Radio controlled planes take flight

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — People from all walks of life are in Central Illinois for an event but it does include much walking.

The Champaign County Radio Control Club is hosting R/C pilots this weekend – and these aren’t your typical kid- friendly R/C planes. Some of them take more than two people to carry.

The club says it’s a great time to bring everyone with the same interest together for fun.

“We’ve got guys from all over to come and fly for fun, one of the prerequisites is it’s 80 inch wingspan, so the plans are quite sizable, they’re huge, so we just get together, chew the fat, fly some airplanes and have a good time.”

They say this the 35th year they’ve been flying these planes.
