OAKWOOD, Ill. (WCIA) — Representatives from the Chicago Fire professional soccer team are in the area this week, helping kids learn about the game.
The Oakwood Youth Soccer Association is putting on its first soccer camp this week. It’s working to build its numbers while kids from 4 – 18 are working on their skills.
While it’s fun for kids, coaches who came to help say it has an even deeper meaning for them.
In addition to soccer skills, players are learning sportsmanship and other life skills. Organizers say it’s an experience they wouldn’t be able to get anywhere else. Camp ends Friday.
