KINCAID, Ill. (WCIA) — Police say if you get a briefcase in the mail, it could be part of an expensive nationwide scam.
The Kincaid Police Department posted on their Facebook saying a person in town received one. They said the person was told it had $500,000 in it, but they had to pay $40,000 for the combination to unlock the suitcase. That person didn’t, but Fed Ex confirmed with the police department a woman elsewhere paid $47,000 for the combination to her briefcase.
Police openened the briefcase and found nothing inside. They say some of them are being sent from Jamaica. If you get one, do not call the number you are given.
