DANVILLE, Ill. (WCIA) – Police officers in are used to serving their community, but maybe not as used to serving food.
That’s what they did Wednesday at the CRIS Healthy-Aging Center.
They served seniors a hearty meal for an early holiday celebration.
The police department does this every year.
They say it’s a great opportunity, and a nice break from the norm.
“Just interact with them on a different basis, on a fun time, on a time to sit down, have some fellowship and eat, and just talk about some other things about the community rather than just the specific job,” said commander Josh Webb.
The seniors look forward to it too.
The staff at CRIS Healthy-Aging told us the slots filled up quickly, and more than 80 people enjoyed the meal.
