Police respond to 2 overnight gun crimes

DANVILLE, Ill. (WCIA) — Authorities are investigating two separate crimes; an aggravated battery with a firearm and armed robbery. Both happened Monday, just after 2 am.

The first happened about 2:10 am, in the 900-block of Redden Court. A 35-year old man, from Chicago, was taken to the hospital after sustaining a gunshot wound to his torso. His current condition is not known.

A witness told police the victim was just in the area when someone started shooting in his direction.

The second crime happened about 2:30 am, in the 2600-block of North Vermilion Street. An employee at Circle K told police two men held up the gas station at gunpoint.

The victim told police the suspects entered the store. One pointed a gun at the employee while the other took an undisclosed amount of money from the register and cigarettes from the counter.

Both suspects are males, black. One wore tan pants and a white hat. The second wore a dark hoodie over his head. No one was hurt.
