Pill program shows signs of working

Local News

SANGAMON COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) — The sheriff’s office says they fewer drugs at this weekend’s take-back event and it may not be a bad thing.

Sheriff Jack Campbell says almost 204 pounds of drugs were turned in during the weekend’s Drug Take Back Day.

Campbell says his department usually collects about 400 pounds.

He believes the numbers are down because people have been taking advantage of the program by dropping off drugs all year long.
