TILTON, Ill. (WCIA) — Police say the person who hit and killed a man with his car will most likely not be charged or ticketed.

It happened Tuesday morning at the Circle K Gas Station on Georgetown Road. 67-year old Ron Johnson died at the hospital.

Police Chief Dave Cornett says the driver didn’t seem to be impaired from substance abuse or anything else. He says the driver told him he just didn’t see Johnson near his car.

Johnson was at the gas station with his wife. After she pumped gas, she moved the car from the pump up to the building, but Johnson didn’t notice. When he walked back to the pump he was hit by another car pulling in.

He was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead about an hour later. An autopsy was conducted Wednesday morning, but the coroner isn’t releasing any information yet. The case is being investigated.
