CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — Many people will take to the streets Friday to participate in One Winter’s Night.

The event gives people the opportunity to see what life is like for the homeless. Participants commit to spending 12 hours outside in a cardboard box along Neil Street downtown.

If you aren’t up for that, you don’t have to brave the cold overnight to get involved.

There will be speakers at the event’s headquarters, 114 South Neil Street, Friday from 7 – 10 pm. Here is a line-up of the speakers:

  • 7:00 pm – Law Enforcement & Homelessness, Champaign County Sheriff’s Office

  • 8:00 pm – C-U at Home: Past, Present, and Future, Executive Director of C-U at Home
