URBANA, Ill. (WCIA) — The park district meets Tuesday night to discuss improving the water quality at Crystal Lake Park. Right now, algae is floating on top and there are a lot of nutrients in the water district officials want to remove.
They recently removed sediment from the lake’s basin. It’s a part of a larger project to revitalize Crystal Lake Park.
The next step will be to focus on the lake’s perimeter, taking out invasive species and improving the ecosystem.
Then they’ll look at the park as a whole and work to make it a place even more suitable to people who already use it and tailor it to events.
