MCHENRY COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) — The parents of a 5-year old boy face charges of first degree murder a week after Andrew “AJ” Freund was reported missing.
Wednesday morning, authorities dug up the body of the child believed to be AJ.
The body was wrapped in plastic and buried in a shallow grave in rural Woodstock, about ten miles away from the family’s home in Crystal Lake.
Authorities say investigators were led to the boy’s body after interviewing the parents and confronting them with cellphone evidence.
The parents, Andrew Freund, Sr., and JoAnne Cunningham, each face five counts of first degree murder as well as other charges including aggravated battery.
