TUSCOLA, Ill. (WCIA) — A summer food program just had its biggest year yet.
It’s run through the Douglas County Health Department. Almost 700 kids participated at locations in Douglas, Edgar and Clark Counties. The kids would eat breakfast and lunch, and would have an activity in between meals.
Food was donated by local businesses, and Gould Transportation of Tuscola helped bus kids back and forth — for free.
The health department plans to continue this program in the future. It’s open to any child, regardless of their parent’s income.
