UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS (WCIA) — Nationwide, people are recognizing Gun Violence Awareness Day and its importance by wearing orange, including some at UI.
Gun violence isn’t just an issue in Illinois, it’s an increasing problem in every state. The We Wear Orange campaign says gun violence kills more than 90-Americans a day and injures hundreds more.
So, for them, orange is the color which demands to be seen to send a message which demands to be heard. The movement continues through the weekend.
Saturday, Danville’s Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense is hosting a similar event on Fairchild and Vermilion.
