GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCIA) — A young woman, who was shot in the Las Vegas massacre, is back home and healing.

Kristin Babik is a third-year law student at the University of Florida and a sorority sister of WCIA-3 News reporter Emily Braun.

Babik was in the hospital for a week with serious injuries. She suffered broken ribs and a collapsed lung.

Doctors say the bullet was close to her spinal cord and could have easily caused more damage, but she powered through it.

Now, as she goes through the healing process, she has to battle the scarring memories of that night. Kristin is returning to classes at UF Levin College of Law and plans to graduate this year.
