One dead in evening shooting

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — A man is dead after a shooting Thursday night.

53-year old Gus Edwards was shot near the intersection of Beardsley Avenue and North Elm Street just after 8 pm. He died about an hour later.

Neighbors say incidents like these are why they want more of a police presence in the area.  

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers. Tipsters are always 100% completely anonymous.

All tips submitted to Crime Stoppers are electronically stripped of any personally identifying information and processed by a third-party answering service, not law enforcement.

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — Police are investigating after a shooting Thursday night. Police responded to Elm Street and Beardsley around 8:10 pm, Thursday. 

Police found a 53-year-old man wounded. He was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Police are investigating.

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — Police are investigating a shooting. It happened in the 400-block of West Beardsley Avenue around 8:15 pm. 

Witnesses say they saw one body on the ground. No word on the extent on the person’s injuries.
