CHAMPAIGN, Ill (WCIA)–Getting rid of old electronics.
The Champaign County electronics recycling event happened Saturday morning.
It’s one of two chances a year people have to get rid of old electronics, like TVs and computers.
People signed up for a time slot to bring their things and with more than 21 hundred people signed up they were very busy.
“Electronics have been banned from Illinois landfills since 2012 so it’s really difficult to find places to get rid of TVs especially in Champaign County so this is an outlet for people to get rid of TVs and then other electronics they might have,” Nichole Millage says.
Last year the event took back around 83 tons of electronics.
