PAXTON, Ill. (WCIA) — Some nursing home residents will soon have to pack their bags.
Accolade Healthcare of Paxton is shutting down the operations at one of its facilities.
This doesn’t mean those who live there don’t have a place to stay though. They’ll be moving the elderly residents living there to one of their two other buildings in town.
Some families got a letter warning them of the building closure. It’s set for November 1st of this year.
They’ll be moving staff to their new building on Pell St. and another on Fulton St.
The letter says the residents at their Market St. location will be given priority in relocating. This move is to essentially downsize to two facilities in town to cut costs.
We spoke with the nursing home’s administrator. She told us there’s a staff meeting, and resident meetings with the owner on Tuesday. It’s when they’ll out find out more information about the move.
The letter also says this is happening because of the changing health care climate over the last few years. It says a large part of that is because of the rising cost of care and need for more quality staff.
They say this move will allow them to keep providing the same level of care.
