BELLEVILLE, Ill. (WCIA) — An NFL Football player will pay for the funeral of an Illinois teenager who died in a shooting last week.

The Dallas Cowboys announced running back Ezekial Elliott will pay for the expenses for Jaylon McKenzie. He was hit by a stray bullet after an 8th grade dance in Belleville Saturday night.

The 14-year-old was building a reputation for himself as a star football player, and was recruited to play at the U of I. Jaylon was recently featured in Sport Illustrated Magazine as one of the “Six Teens who will Rule the Future in Sports.”
