New water treatment plant

Local News

MOWEAQUA, Ill. (WCIA) — A water treatment plant got an upgrade. The water treatment facility celebrated its opening.

It’s been up and running for about two months, but local leaders invited the community to come and see it for themselves. The plant is worth about $2.5 million. A loan from the Environmental Protection Agency helped fund it.

The old water plant was built in the early 1900s. The water superintendent says the old plant was outdated and the new facility is able to do more to protect the water.
