CHAMPAIGN COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) — A plan to heal communities after a shooting one is starting. The Champaign County Community Coalition has been talking about this since November.
The coalition wants to deliver messages of safety and security in times of fear and tragedy. Some say this is a good idea, others say this is just a start.
“I feel like as a community we have a lot of growing to do in that feeling safe department but it’s a step and every step counts,” Christina Newman-Granadino says.
They will get out to the scene within 36 hours. The coalition’s goal is to help promote resilience and to help the neighborhoods stay in power.
