ILLINOIS (WCIA) — The Illinois National Guard’s Airlift Wing will be getting a new commander.

General William “Robbie” Robertson will serve as the next chief of staff for the 182nd Airlift Wing.

Robertson says he’s honored and excited for the new role after serving his country for 37-years.

His tenure allowed him to serve on missions like Desert Shield, Desert Storm and Iraqi Freedom.

The Change of Command Ceremony is Saturday, at Camp Lincoln, in Springfield.
