Murder suspect surrenders; 2nd sought

CHAMPAIGN COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) — One man wanted on a 1st degree murder warrant has turned himself in while another suspect remains at large.

Police say 31-year old Cory Jackson surrendered himself to authorities Monday. Meanwhile, 27-year old Keith Campbell is being sought by police and the United States Marshals Service Great Lakes Fugitive Task Force.

Police responded to the 1900-block of Florida Avenue, about 12:45 am, Saturday, July 21 for multiple reports of a shooting. A victim, Martez Taylor, died as a result of gunshot wounds.

The murder reportedly happened as a result of a fight at the party. The investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with further information, photographs, or video recordings is encouraged to call Urbana Police. Detectives will arrange to meet with witnesses privately.
