DECATUR, Ill. (WCIA) — Organizers are breaking ground on a new resource they say is groundbreaking in itself.
It’s a space specifically catered to those who might not feel like they’ve had one before. Meaningful Meadows is an outdoor activity center for children and adults with special needs.
The idea has been in the works for quite some time, but now organizers are celebrating its development. MRI is an organization which tries to promote the growth, independence and self-worth of people with special needs.
Leaders say this outdoor space will meet that mission. The center will have a sensory space, escape and social areas, and exercise space.
It will give people an opportunity to connect with the community while also letting off steam. The groundbreaking is Thursday at 1 pm.
