MATTOON, Ill. (WCIA) — An Indiana man faces charges of burglary and resisting or obstructing a peace officer.

27-year old Maxwell Rosa, of Terre Haute, Ind., was arrested about 3:30 pm, Saturday, in the 2300-block of Commercial Avenue.

Police responded to the 2200-block of Western Avenue to help the Charleston Police Department in apprehending a theft suspect, identified as Rosa. While making contact with Rosa, he ran from police.

Rosa was stopped and taken into custody about five blocks from the original scene. Authorities say he stole items worth more than $500 from Walmart on July 2, 4 and 6.
