S[RINGFIELD, Ill. (WCIA) — There’s a show going on Monday night in Central Illinois and the best part is you don’t need tickets to see it.

The Perseid Meteor Shower is lighting up the skies.

The shower happens every year near the beginning of august.

During its peak there can be about 60 meteors per hour.

There’s a special show going on Monday night at the Lincoln Memorial Garden where you can watch the meteor shower hosted by the U of I Springfield.

That runs from 8:30 to 11.
