CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — Neighbors are concerned after fencing has been put up around some memorial trees.
It’s out at spalding park in champaign. There are several trees that were bought in honor of someone who has died.
A metal fence was put around some of them this week. The park district says a few of them will be removed to make way for the champaign school district’s construction plans. Those living nearby say they don’t want to see them go.
The park district says the owners of the memorial trees have been contacted. Their website also says the trees have a warranty.
It says if unforeseen construction cause the tree to removed within 20 years of the time was planted the park district will relocate or replace it.
