URBANA, Ill. (WCIA) A group is planting seeds of love with a spin on speed dating. It’s called weed dating.
People are paired off to help tackle the weeds. While they pull them, they socialize with new people as they work down the row.
One of the coordinators from the Land Connection says it helps people who are tired of meeting people at places like a bar or club.
“You find people who are interested in unique things: the outdoors, getting their hands dirty. It’s just a great way to meet like minded people,” says Land Connection Farmer Training Program Manager Mallory Krieger.
Weed dating will return next year, but the Land Connection will be hosting more events to connect people.
