Medical professionals prepare students for school

Local News

DECATUR, Ill. (WCIA) — Doctors and medical care professionals were at First Corinthian Church giving students free checkups before the start of school. It was the eighth year for Jumpstart.

For the first time, the program offered vision exams and kids who needed glasses were able able to get a pair for free. Free immunizations were also provided.

The church partnered with YMCA to give out free backpacks. There was also free food so families could eat before they left.

For those families who weren’t able to make it, there will be a secret event later this fall. The location has not yet been disclosed.
