Master plan impacts campus footprint

Local News

UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS — Campus could look very different in the next few years.

The university’s planning committee released a draft of its master plan design. It outlines big upgrades and additions they’d like to make to the school.

Some plans include expanding the science and engineering buildings, new athletic facilities closer to the center of campus, plus new residential buildings and revamped parking decks along Daniel and John streets.

The last master plan was in 2007.

2017 plans are still being developed and finalized. The planning committee is holding meetings all day Wednesday to go over the designs.

Members are also asking for public feedback before it goes to the UI Trustees for approval in the fall.
