VERMILION COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) — The manage of a restaurant is supporting an employee accused of child sexual abuse.
41-year old David Woodrow is accused of abusing a teenager in 2011. The state’s attorney says more victims have come forward.
Woodrow worked at the Beefhouse, in Covington, for 22-years. The manager says he’s standing behind Woodrow, but declined to make any other comment.
The state’s attorney says Woodrow met the then 15-year old victim in 2010. They knew each other through a theater and opera company.
Authorities say Woodrow became so close with the teen’s parents, they let him pull the teenager out of school sometimes. That’s when the state’s attorney says Woodrow sexually abused the victim.
Woodrow has been very active in the Danville Community and was even contracted out by the Northridge Middle School Music Booster Club. Leaders say he would do choreography for the theater. They declined to comment as well.
Danville’s superintendent says Woodrow was not an employee of the district or a volunteer. He strictly worked with the booster club.
Regardless, in May, they asked the board to take their background checks to a higher level of scrutiny. She says, this is especially important for volunteers who can’t be distinguished as an employee.
